Complete your information and the contestant information below for the entry you are about to score.

Review the Entry
Using the Excel spreadsheet provided by the Contest Superintendent, click the contestant’s link or copy and paste it into your web browser. This will allow you to review the contestant’s complete entry, including their cover letter and resume.

Score the Entry
Each judging section includes scoring criteria to help ensure consistency across all entries. Select the appropriate point value for each section using the drop-down menus.

Provide Constructive Feedback
Please provide specific, constructive comments that will help the contestant understand what they did well and where they can improve.

For example, instead of “Good job,” provide feedback such as:

  • “Good job highlighting _____ in the _____ section of your resume.”
  • “Be cautious of _____ when preparing your resume.”

Internal Comments are optional and are only visible to State Fair of Texas officials. They will not be shared with the contestant.

Submit Your Scores
Review your scores and comments for accuracy, then submit the scoresheet. Once submitted, proceed to the next contestant listed in your spreadsheet.

Cover Letter

EVALUATION:

  • Did the cover letter meet the one page maximum?
  • Was it addressed and dated correctly?
  • Is the information in the cover letter true and relevant to the position being applied?
  • Did the cover letter create interest in the applicant?
  • Was the cover letter grammatically correct and professional?

Resume

EVALUATION:

  • Did the resume not exceed two pages?
  • Was the information and work experience non-fictitious and highlight the applicant's experience in a professional manner?
  • Was the resume easy to read and follow?
